It's Father's Day?

Father's Day has come and passed, yet nobody seemed to really care. You don't see special offers in flower shops (for gay dads) or big sales at Armani for father's day do you? I've always wondered why this was so. Is it because your Dad seems to care less about you than your Mum? After all, you Mum did carry you in her belly for 9 long months (unless your adopted, then it would be a little more complicated), but the Dad is the moneymaker (that sounds so much like ass), he brings home the bacon (chicken if your Muslim). Is that not enough? Do we celebrate mother's day merely to make up for all the lost time during those 9 grueling months?

Why am I talking about father's day for anyway? Since no one cares, no one would read this. Except for you, your special. Well maybe it's just because I wanted to show a picture of my family (and some other family) at a Brazilian meat restaurant!

Voila!

If I could fly, I would challenge you to a base jump

The world cup. I don't know if it's the sheer thrill of watching good teams crashing and burning or the "exuberant" atmosphere in my parent's bedroom as both sleeping and watching occur simultaneously, but I keep coming back for more. Perhaps, deep down inside, I have an undying urge for misery. This could all be different if the world cup were slightly different. FIFA should stop giving small teams like New Zealand a chance. They never fail to park the team bus in front of goal and choke the flow of football. They are a perfect example of how boring football can be. This makes the world cup a wearisome affair. Strangely, I never tire of the humdrum of the world cup. Maybe, a hobby like collecting coins could solve my problem.

What else have I been doing with my time? Nothing much. Tuition, work, play...

Ice Ice Baby Ice

A cold thin mist lingered over as people flocked onto the ice. Amidst the rowdiness of the children and frantic screams of the Idiots that are falling, a certain serenity and peace was found. I had every intention to make full use of this new found relaxation. So, I held her hand and gently progressed, she slowly gingered along as this was her first time on skates. Though our journey was littered with sporadic halts, it was enjoyable.
Evantually, her confidence grew, along with her skill. We started picking up speed. This was when the fun truly started. We had a ball of a time as she gleefully pranced ahead as I spun circles around her. We stopped every now and then to take the occasional picture(s)...
That's right folks, I went ice skating with joemin! Why do I like ice skating? It makes me feel like there is more than what I am accustomed to. That life is bigger than me. It opens a little window for me to peer into the winter wonderlands of the north. This gives me hope that my life in the future would be more of a thrill than it is now, because there are so many things that I do not usually do, but can do. (skiing, snowboarding, cozying up in a bed w/o the need for air-conditioning...)
This day the 15th, is also a marker for me and Joemin. It's our monthly anniversary. We have a habit of celebrating every monthly anniversary, which in my opinion is a really good practice. This month being our 30th, I decided to do something different too, something a little more romantic. Hopefully ice skating did the trick :D

Here is a picture for all the curious cats out there.

Vroom Goes The Cow

What does Darren do? What does Darren do? Nothing mostly. (I'm trying to defeat the purpose of a rhetorical question ( I think I did it))
I'm starting on this crazy schedule where i have 8 driving lessons and 15 tuitions in 2 weeks. This means 43.33hrs of doing something out of 336 hrs. Thats 12.8% of the time! WOAH! (Don't we all love pointless statistics? I do, it gives me great comfort to know that whoever is writing this is endowed with the skills to punch in numbers on a table calculator :D :D :D ) Thats a lot of time! What conclusions can i draw from these statistics? Well none. Thats why they are pointless.
I drove on a road for the first time in my life. It's not fun, just tense. Tense tense tense. Everyone is so hostile towards me when I'm driving. Other drivers constantly attempt to overtake me. (So, I slow down and block them.) My instructor always "aids" me in engaging the breaks. (It just makes his ride bumpier, dumb prick.) And the car keeps stalling on me. (Ok, that could be my fault. But still.) At least I had some thrill. I felt powerful behind the wheel, like people's lives were in my hands. Hmmm...

An outlet

I feel like ranting today. Rant rant rant. I guess people like to post how they are and what they did in blogs, so I'll do that too :D :D :D (smiley faces for dramatic effect).
My holidays have been a real bore. Not like I don't expect it, I'm just never prepared for so much free time. Mostly I kill time by studying (which ends up in staring, then eating, then playing with me soccer ball, then going to the toilet, then closing my book.)
At least I will be doing something of some significance tomorrow. Driving. Am I supposed to be thrilled that I will be behind the wheels cruising at 10km/h in a tiny circuit course? I'm not sure, some are. But at least its a change from doing nothing.
My feet are aching for action. Someone pass me a ball....
